Been a while here’s what has been going on! Enjoy!
Mostly I got extremely consumed in school because it was my graduating year and I also took part in an externship program on top of the work I had in all my other classes. Through the externship program I was actually allowed to shadow professionals in a local hospital. I took an interest in the histology department which is the study of tissues so I got to see basically everything that comes out of people and I’ll leave it at that because some of it would definitely be gross to those not in or going into the medical field. I didn’t compete this year because of this intensive schedule I had and I just felt as though I should put all my effort into school which in turn helped me out because I graduated with honors which is average 4.0 gpa each year in high school!
With focusing on my work I was able to get into the school of my dreams: Maynooth University in Maynooth, Ireland. I will be studying Biology/Biomedical sciences in order to inch closer to my ultimate goal of becoming a pediatrician. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited yet nervous to start something this is such a drastic change from where I am now and I think it’s going to be nothing short of amazing but there’s no way to know for sure. I’m not sure if I will be able to shoot and compete because of the intensive studying I’ll have to do and considering all the other club options my school has I’m already overwhelmed with so many amazing options!! There’s no way I’ll ever quit completely but I feel one knows when it’s right and when there’s other options to try while there’s the chance. I’m so excited that I get this opportunity to immerse myself in another culture not for just one year but the full four.
Federal Aid works differently there and though I can use some aspects of it, I can not get my first disbursement until October. This is problematic since there are still deposits and arrangements I am required to handle out-of-pocket until then. I still need to raise $5000. If you want to help start this journey donate here!! My PayPal is recurveemma AT gmail DOT com and my Venmo is Emma-Harris-47
I hope to get to see some of you for a visit in Ireland or shooting there. Add me on Instagram at recurveemma!
Red Noses are funny but living in poverty isn’t. I thought that idea of Red Nose Day was pretty cool so I am hoping you do too! I have set up a fundraising page HERE and I will be asking everyone I know to give just a little to make the lives of children easier. We CAN make a difference together! Do you have your Red Nose? Post your funny pictures today and tag me so I can send them out! Laughter is the best medicine.
I get to go to JDT camp in Colorado Springs in January!
I am SO EXCITED!
It has been a hard year for me since getting my form broken down there last January. Combine that with moving to another state and growing, everything is changing. Just a little bit of growing in height, arm length, and neck length can change how it feels when you pull back the bow. How do people get through this I wonder?
This Christmas I had a list of stuff I wanted that was non-archery related but now it is mostly asking for donations to help with a new bow and travel expenses. It is nuts how much it costs to go to all the events you need to in a year. I would shoot more places if I could!
So I think I answered everyone’s questions last year but is there any thing else you would like to learn about Junior Dream Team camp? Let me know and I will take notes for you while I am there!
